Mike Ritchie, EVP, Head of National and Special Businesses, understands that each business comes with new challenges and hurdles. “The greatest pain point that companies have when they go to obtain financing from banks would typically be getting the banker to understand their business.” He says, “It’s a real challenge to try to translate what you do every day and what you live and breathe every day and what you love into language that your financial institution can understand.”
Commercial financing and banking is more than checks and balances – it’s working with a trusted partner to move a company to the next level.
Comerica is different from other banks. Mike believes it is because of how they treat their customers. “We spend a lot of time researching a variety of industries and the markets that we serve. So we have a number of specialty lines of businesses that line up directly with what our customers do.
”It’s more than learning for Comerica. “We feel like we need to roll our sleeves up and understand the industries that our customers operate in to be able to serve them well.”
Comerica believes in the long-term aspect of a relationship and demonstrates this by putting the customer first. It’s more than being there today, it’s about looking forward to tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, and beyond.
As Mike says, “What does this relationship look like today, how can we work with this customer so that we’re there for them through thick and thin, good times and bad – not just today, but hopefully 5, 10, 15 years from today.”
