You may bring your paper documents to be securely destroyed. You are not required to remove small staples, paper clips, rubber bands and/or small fasteners; however, please find a list of prohibited items below.

Large or box trucks must have paper secured in pallets or boxes. It will be at Iron Mountain's discretion to accept the disposal of loose paper not secured within these vehicles.

Prohibited items include:

• Paper: telephone books, hardcover books, and wet or damp paper
• Trash: food waste, bottles, glass, cans, inks, dyes, paints
• Metals: ring binders, lever arch binders, hanging folders, large bulldog clips, license plates
• Plastics: plastic bags and packing materials, computer discs, CDs, DVDs, backup tapes, video tapes, transparencies, ID badges, driver's licenses, microfiche, microfilm, X-rays
• HAZMAT: biochemical waste, sharps, toxic substances, flammables, explosives
• Hardware: computer, printer or photocopier parts

While we’ll make every effort to destroy the majority of the collected documents with mobile shredding units or live shredding trucks, some of the paper documents will be loaded into secure trucks and shredded at the Iron Mountain shredding facility in a timely manner. Therefore, guests may not be able to watch their documents be shredded while they wait.

The goal of the event is to keep traffic flowing to minimize guest wait times, and for safety reasons, we encourage all guests to remain in their vehicles.

Anything that contains sensitive information (name, address, Social Security number, account number, etc.) that you no longer need and that you want to keep out of the hands of thieves or “dumpster divers.” These documents could include old utility invoices, bank statements, medical records, credit card offers and old tax documents, just to name a few.

We cannot accept cardboard boxes in bulk. If you bring your paper documents in a cardboard box, it will be at each Iron Mountain representative's discretion to return your box(es) to you after emptying the contents into the secure shredding bins.

After Iron Mountain securely destroys your paper documents, the processed materials are then transported to paper mills to be turned into pulp for recycled paper. This destruction process greatly reduces pollution, preserves landfill space and saves trees, water and even oil resources.

At the Mercer Business Park (12121 N. Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, TX 75234) during the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. There is no limit to how much paper you can bring, and we’ll have special “large load” lanes for trucks, trailers, U-Hauls, etc. The event works like a giant drive-thru, and guests are asked to remain in their vehicles for safety reasons while the Iron Mountain employees remove documents from your vehicle.

Yes, volunteers from the Food Bank will be present to collect any donations from our guests.

We encourage you to attend Shred Day DFW to have your sensitive paper documents destroyed for free on Saturday, April 11. Can’t make it on April 11? You can visit a participating Comerica ShredSite during regular business hours.

Comerica ShredSite is a free resource available to everyone in the community year-round at select banking centers in Dallas-Fort Worth. ShredSite locations can only accept paper documents, and we ask that volume is limited to five (5) banker boxes per visit. For more information and to find a location, visit Comerica ShredSite.
